This week, let's look at a timeless story.
A story about that quiet fear we feel when we want to start something new... and the doubt that asks, "Do I have what it takes?"
Let's dive in...
⏳ THE TIMELESS STORY
There once was a craftsman who built boats.
He had spent years learning his craft...
Learning which wood to use.
He knew exactly how the water moved around a boat...
He had learned how to build a boat that lasted.
And for years, this was his life.
Then one day he thought... what if he tried to build something else?
Something different...
He'd seen bridges in other villages.
Beautiful ones that helped people cross the river safely.
What if he could build a bridge like that for his own village?
He'd walk through the village and think about where it could be built...
But as the idea took hold, doubt too began to creep in...
He'd spent his whole life learning boats.
Every skill he had, every bit of understanding he'd gained... it was all about boats.
And a bridge was something totally different.
What if he tried and failed... he thought.
What would the people in the village think?
And the more he thought about it, the heavier it felt...
So he didn't start.
He just... waited.
He kept thinking about it...
He kept planning the bridge in his head.
He'd walk to the river and imagine the bridge standing there.
But every time he thought about actually starting... the doubt returned back.
And in this way... Days turned into weeks.
And weeks turned into months.
People still came to him for boats and he kept building them.
But the bridge stayed just a thought.
Until one evening, an old craftsman passed through the village.
The two of them sat by the river as the sun went down.
The old man asked him...
"You seem troubled, what's on your mind?"
So the boat maker told him...
About the bridge. About his doubts.
About the fear that he wasn't capable of building something he'd never built before.
And the old man listened quietly until he finished.
Then he asked...
"When you first started building boats... did you already know how?"
"No," he said. "I had to learn."
"And were you afraid then too?"
"Yes," he admitted.
"In the beginning, I had no idea what I was doing."
"But you learned. And now boats come naturally to you." the old man said.
"And that ability to learn something new... to start as a beginner and become a master... you've done it before. It's still in you."
"You have within you right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you."
✨ UNDERSTANDING SELF DOUBT
I'm sure most of us have felt that pull to start something new at some point...
And right after it, that inner voice which says...
Can I really do this?
But here's the thing about that voice...
It only shows us what we don't know yet.
It makes us feel like we're not ready.
Like maybe we're not enough for this new thing.
But everything we're good at today...
There was a time we couldn't do it at all.
But we learned it.
And slowly, it became second nature.
That's what we forget when we're scared to start something new.
Not knowing how to do something yet... doesn't mean we can't learn it.
You've done hard things before.
You've started with nothing and slowly found your way.
And that ability doesn't just go away when you're facing something unfamiliar.
So maybe the question was never "Do I have what it takes?"
Maybe the real question is simply... "Am I willing to learn?"
Because if you are... then you already have what you need to begin.
You've done it before.
And you can do it again.
"Every expert was once a beginner."
🧘♂️ MANTRA FOR THE WEEK
"I remind myself that I've done hard things before. I've started as a beginner and found my way. That ability is still in me. So whenever doubt comes, I choose to trust that I can learn whatever I need to. Because I've done it before, and I can do it again."
